Remember here I announced I had bought a vintage chandelier for the house. I was tossing up what colour to paint it. There were a few votes cast already, but I did dig up some pictures to get me inspired.
Just to remind you, this is what the kitchen currently looks like...
I could simple matt white (more contemporary, still neutral, will it blend in with the white cabinets, or contrast with the grey walls above?)
Or, I could use a soft charcoal grey (I'd probably go a shade or two darker than the walls)...
I love the idea of using a metallic grey, like this beauty...
And the drama of black is appealing as well (the black chairs will be replaced later, so there wouldn't be a lot of black left in the room)...
Of course, then I have to decide whether to change out the glass shades (which a little bit traditional) to something else in glass, try bare bulbs or even add fabric shades. Of course, it could equally well just the way it is!
Here is my little project. What do you vote for?

I vote for black! Definitely black! Since you have big white surfaces, black would look perfect! And with that charcoal painted door... don't even think about it. Go for the black drama!
ReplyDeleteOoh, tough choice. My vote is for duck egg blue or glossy white! L xx
ReplyDeleteAh, you are Australian. I agree with Olga...black. Nice blog. White would get lost against your cabinets. How about a pop of color like the hot pink in the flowers you have on the table? By the way, do you know that you have word verification on? I did a post about it today.
ReplyDeleteI would go with black too, dramtic against the white and will go well with the grey. I have a black cast iron light in my very white bedroom and love it! By the way love your kitchen. G
ReplyDeleteI really like white & grey. But the black sure is striking. I have a black chandelier in my daughters room very similar to your last picture, it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI worry that white would get lost against your wall colour. My vote goes for a fabulous grey!
ReplyDeleteAwesome kitchen! I vote medium Grey...
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about painting the lower kitchen cabinets medium grey as well???
Just a thought ;o)

Hi Anna,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stopped by so I could find you! Love your kitchen - I vote for gray all the way for the chandelier!
Been perusing your blog - love it! Saw that nice shiny brass tray - a contrast to all my tarnished silver but I love it! And can't wait to see what you do to your family room!

Metallic paint would be nice - I do not see your appliances so I do not know whether you have metal in the kitchen already. Grey is a nice option, too. Love the cupboards!
