Is anyone else finding the new word verification captcha system frustrating?! These two, blurry, difficult to read words are making my blog commenting life rather miserable!
When I first started my blog I disabled it straight away but someone recently advised me it was there again. When I went to Settings I couldn't find anywhere to disable it.
I worked out how and thought I would share in case you're frustrated by this problem as well!
1) First, you need to switch to the old interface - the new one doesn't have an option to remove word verification. To do this, click on the little cog symbol under your name, and select 'Old Blogger Interface'.
2) Once you're back to the old interface, click on Settings.
3) Once you're into the 'Settings' section, click on the 'Comments' tab.
4) Scroll down until you see 'Show word verification for comments?'. Click 'NO'.
Easy, hey? You can switch back to the old interface by clicking on the 'Try the updated blogger interface' link at the top right of your screen, and you're all fixed.
Hope this helps!
Anna xx
Pin It Now!

I am still using the old interface, I don't adjust to change easily :)
ReplyDeleteI find work verification very pesky so have never used it on my blog. Thankfully I rarely get any spam. The new blogger word veri is really difficult to read. I make so many mistakes :)
Thanks sooooooooo much for this. I was searching EXACTLY this last night trying to work out how to remove it. I'm going to try it now...thanks again, Tania Maree xx
ReplyDeleteAs far as I can tell it worked! Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much and have a great day......

I really DISLIKE the captcha and learned early on to get rid of it so it would be easy for people to leave comments. It is sooo easy without it, yet, I still don't get as many comments as I would like!!! Watching the Red Carpet right now - have a great Monday Anna!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you did this post Anna! This captcha system is ridiculous. I was fairly sure mine was disabled, but your post encouraged me to double check. Please bloggers, switch it off!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anna, for doing a post on this topic!
ReplyDeleteWord verifications seemed to be getting longer and longer and with more and more words!
Aahhh! We need to spread the word to turn this feature off, NOW!
Have a great day. x Jode
Hi anna
ReplyDeleteI HATE word verification on any blog.
I find my time (like most of us) sooooo limited and when I go do type a quick comment when the word verification pops up I find I click off the blog altogether and the blogger wouldn't have known of my attempt, frustration and time consumption.
I am happy that you have shown others to hopefully do the same,
have a lovely day

Great tutorial! I hope a LOT of people read it! Thanks! New follower! ~Lori
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks! it was driving my readers crazy. BTW it's sometimes necessary to switch back to the old interface for other things as well. I just redesigned my blog on a test site and for the life of me couldn't copy the html back to the real blog, until I used the old interface. Definitely something wrong with the new interface, although I do like certain things there as well.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I couldn't figure out how to turn the word verification OFF... your instructions were *perfect*.
